Ancient mound and monuments known as Pawar's Gadhi

This site was excavated by M. N. Deshpande in 1952 and later in 1956-57. Excavation of this mound has revealed five cultural sequences as below. Period I - Chalcolithic cultural with blade industry, painted black-on-red ware etc. Period II- 600-300 BC: showing emergence of iron culture. Period III - 300 BC - 100 AD: characterized by presence of NBPW. Period IV - 1200-1700 AD: showing Yadava & Islamic culture. Period V - 18th century AD: showing Maratha culture.
